My Dad in My words...

Created by Sophie Atwell 10 years ago
Its been 8 months since you left, and now i feel i am finally ready to share my stories in my own words... My Dad was a kind man, almost too kind at times. He seemed to always put others before himself. My memories of my Dad are somewhat blurred in places, our relationship was sometimes rocky (what daughter aways gets on with their Dad anyway?)but the good memories I do have of myself and my Dad are precious, and i will hold them in my heart forever. Here are some to share... I always remember my Dad coming to my house when I had the chicken pox. He gave me a Playstation game for being a brave girl. I still have that game now. He LOVED Mr Kiplings Manor House cake, and always had about half to himself. Its possibly the most boring cake on earth but he loved it, along with a ham sandwich and a pile of salt and vinegar pringles. You could hear him snoring from Australia, especially when he came in from a night on the door at 4am! He loved his job, and he made many many friends who he also loved dearly. I thank all of his friends for letting him enjoy his life, even if it was too short. We used to go to Banger racing too, he loved that, we sat on a picnic blanket on the muddy floor, sometimes in the pouring rain, but there he was, still smiling with his burger in his hand. He supported me in EVERYTHING. Whether it was falling out with someone, my school work (or lack of), college or moving out. He used to tell me he'd be proud even if I was a bin lady, or if i was on McDonalds drive thru collecting stars. I will never forget his dancing to all the songs he heard in the clubs at work, he used to embarrass me and my Brother. Sometimes we fell out and were extremely stubborn, but what comforts me is that in the last four weeks of his life, I felt we were stronger than ever. He knew I was there till the end, and he knew that I would hold his hand as long as he wanted me to. Nothing will bring my Dad back, but his memory will stay alive forever. Dad, you will go down in history. Keep smiling Dad, I love you and miss you more than you will ever imagine. 'FOREVER UNITED'
